Québec is known as the treasure of America
Coming from Montreal, at first I didn't like very much Quebec, my family and
my friends were missing, Quebec is much smaller than Montreal . With the years I've learned to love it, I'm very happy
living here now and I appreciate what the city have to offer even if the winter is too long and summer
too short !!!
Quebec is an historical town, with its surrounded walls and stone doors in its old
part, the display at the Parc de l'artillerie of several cannons which was used in the battles of the French against the British.
It has a European style with its historic houses of many years. Also a town with contrasts, with the Grande-Allée avenue
near by the Old Quebec, a spot for the youth in weekends.
The MSA farm where we could see in summer time, cows in the field, quite amazing
! Having a store on premises selling a daily delicious cheddar cheese.
The countryside is near by, a few miles away. Three skiing resorts which
one is well known in North America, Mont St-Anne, where I like to go once in a while.
Even a camping ground in the east part of the town, in a forest of leafy
and fir trees, a beautiful place. In winter time trails are done for the country sking, the free daily rendezvous for
the seniors.
Now it's very popular to build those mega shopping malls, we have them from east to
west, also huge movies theaters recently built. However we still have the same problem, we have to be fast to be able to see
the original English version of an American movie a week or so, but the French version is on for weeks.
Since January1st, fourteen suburbs of the north shore of the St.Lawrence have merge
into one large city of some 500,000 Quebec city, which didn't please everyone concerned. Future will tell
us if it was a good thing to be done!
